Join us for an afternoon with Dr. Leslie Korn; who will read from her new book Rhythms of Recovery: Trauma, Nature and the Body; and also from her bilingual book Medicines of the Jungle/Medicinas de la Selva. Leslie will discuss both books and share stories about her work for over 35 years practicing natural medicine and traditional indigenous medicine to address mental and physical health in indigenous communities of the west coast of Mexico. She will discuss the effects of trauma and the cultural disruption from tourism and development and explore innovative community-based approaches to maintain and revitalize indigenous foods and medicines.
Books will be available for sale and signing. Proceedings from book sales will be going to the Cabo Corrientes Women’s Massage Project; and half of the proceedings from the reading will go to Camino de la Paz.
No pre-registration required for this event – just show up 10 minutes before the reading begins and pay at the door.
