Alicia has spent her 40 years working, playing and pursuing her passions in two fields, cooking and teaching. She studied pastry and baking at the Culinary Institute of America and apprenticed for years with Master Chef Felipe Rojas Lombardi. She completed a Master’s degree in early childhood education at Teacher’s College, Columbia University. She went on to work in under-resourced, urban school systems establishing classroom libraries, and became a 2nd grade classroom teacher in her last years in New York City.

After moving to San Miguel in 2005, she returned to the culinary arts and now indulges daily in San Miguel’s abundant market for fresh and artisan foods. The Cooking School fuses her professional expertise as an educator with her deepest passion – food.

Testimonials

Thank you for the delicious, holistic meals you and your assistants prepared for us everyday. You have a clear style of communication that is engaging; the outcomes were delicious. It was really a stimulating experience for me. BTW the cooking class was huge to my peeps, they love talking about it, so thanks for giving it. My girlfriends are acting like I took a class with  Julia Childs in France, so I am loving their attitude. Hope the rest of your year is healthy and prosperous and that your holistic cooking becomes the way we cook in the future. - Lorenza Felton
